The field of education is constantly evolving, and educators need to stay abreast of the latest innovations and ideas. That is why the TLS/ForesightLab, in partnership with ATÖLYE, was proud to host the “School on Mars” event last week. This exciting workshop was designed for K-12 learning designers and educators in the UAE who are eager to explore the future of education and imagine new possibilities.
The event’s goal was to co-design pathways for transformative education by rethinking the traditional models of teaching and learning. The theme of “School on Mars” is a metaphor for exploring the potential of education beyond the constraints of today’s systems. Participants had the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of shaping a regenerative world through education, focusing on enabling K-12 students to become responsible and compassionate global citizens.
Throughout the event, attendees could engage in thought-provoking discussions and collaborative exercises that encouraged sharing of ideas and best practices. Our TLS and Atolye facilitators provided insights and guidance on designing schools that foster a caring culture and promote student-centred learning. The event also explored the importance of inquiry-based and real-world learning models and the role of the community in creating a physical and accessible heart of the learning community.
